1. What martial arts do you teach?
We offer classes in Wing Chun Kung Fu and applied Body Mechanics. Each class focuses on relaxation, speed, technique, fitness, discipline, and self-defence.
2. Do I need prior experience to join?
No experience is necessary. We welcome complete beginners as well as experienced students. Our instructors tailor sessions to the individual which suit all skill levels.
3. What age groups do you accept?
We offer classes for:
- Children (typically ages 10+) with Training Parent
- Teens (15+) by agreement.
- Adults (18+)
Some classes may have specific age requirements for safety and learning purposes.
4. What should I wear for my first class?
For your first session, wear:
- Comfortable workout clothes (e.g., t-shirt and joggers/shorts).
- Bring a water bottle.
There are no Uniforms other than a club T-shirt which can be purchased after you decide to join.
5. How much do classes cost?
Prices vary depending on membership type and class frequency. We typically offer:
- Monthly training fees.
- Family discounts.

6. Do you offer a free trial?
Yes! We usually offer a free trial class so you can experience our training before committing.
7. How long have your Instructors been Training?
All SWCKF instructors have been training for at least 10 years+
- Instructors are First Aid qualified.
- DBS Checked.
- Trace their lineage through Sifu Bill to GM Samuel Kwok.
8. Are you part of a larger Community?
The Weston Club has a Direct Lineage through through Sifu Bill to GM Samuel Kwok and the rest of the founders of the Wing Chun style.
- The club syllabus would be easily recognisable by students/instructors in classes in Hong Kong.
9. Is the training Just Physical?
We promote Mental as well as Physical Strength in order to protect the Psyche and well as the Body.
- Training includes mental and physical relaxation.
- We train stress situations and how to handle them.
9. How often should I train?
For best results, we recommend training:
- 1–2 times per week in the Club.
- t Home: 2–4 times per week or as time allows.
Little and Often is the Key to Consistency of progress.
10. Is Win Chun safe?
Yes. Safety is a top priority. We ensure:
- Certified instructors
- Controlled training environments.
- Protective equipment when needed.
Students are taught proper techniques to minimise risk.
11. Will I have to spar?
Sparring is NOT required but is optional between consenting students who agree to do so. As you progress, we use partner drills and controlled sparring may be introduced to build skill and confidence—but always in a safe, supervised setting.
12. Can Wing Chun help with fitness and weight loss?
Absolutely. Our training improves:
- Conditioning with a level of Cardiovascular fitness.
- Strength and flexibility.
- Coordination and balance.
It’s also a great way to relieve stress.
13. Do you have a Syllabus and offer assessment progression?
Yes. Students can progress through the training levels of the system by:
- Attending classes regularly.
- Demonstrating skills and knowledge.
- Assessments are optional and by arrangement.
14. Are your instructors qualified?
Yes, all instructors are certified, experienced, and trained in both teaching and safety protocols.
15. Can parents watch classes?
Anyone can come and watch a class but you are more likely encouraged to take part.
16. Do you run competitions?
We DO NOT have a sporting element to what we do. But the skills can translate to a sporting environment.
17. How do I sign up?
The is no membership fee. - You can:
