What Does Wing Chun Focus On?
Wing Chun develops several key skills:

Structure – learning to use the body efficiently and maintain a strong, stable position.
-
Centreline – understanding the central area of the body and how it affects attack and defence.
-
Economy of movement – using direct, purposeful movements rather than unnecessary actions.
-
Timing – learning when to move, attack, defend or change position.
-
Relaxation – reducing unnecessary tension so movement can remain responsive.

Sensitivity – developing the ability to respond to pressure and movement from a partner.
These principles are trained progressively through forms, partner work and practical exercises.
Chi Sau, or “sticking hands”, is a partner exercise used to develop contact sensitivity, timing and automatic responses.
